Design Story

✦ The Inspiration
Inspired by the greetings exchanged as families welcome the New Year, this design brings a familiar wish into the kitchen. Its bright colours capture the anticipation of gathering, cooking and sharing a festive table.

✦ The Sri Lankan Connection
“Suba Aluth Awuruddak Weva” is a Sinhala wish for a happy New Year. The design celebrates the Sinhala greeting within Sri Lanka’s Sinhala and Tamil New Year season, a time closely associated with family visits and shared food.

✦ The Artwork
Bold Sinhala lettering forms a rounded central composition in red, blue, green and golden yellow. Curling leaves, floral motifs and ornamental borders frame the greeting against a soft cream ground.

✦ A Message from Home
Even when family gathers across different countries, a familiar New Year wish can bring everyone a little closer. Keep that greeting near as you prepare food and make new memories.
