Inspired by the magnificent Sesath umbrellas carried in the Esala Perahera procession in Kandy — one of the world's most spectacular cultural festivals, held annually in honour of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha.

The Sesath (ceremonial umbrella) is one of the most sacred symbols in Sri Lankan royal and Buddhist tradition. Historically reserved for royalty and high temple dignitaries, these ornate gilded canopies appear prominently in the Esala Perahera — a procession of adorned elephants, drummers, dancers and flame carriers that draws hundreds of thousands of devotees to Kandy each year. The lotus flower, also central to the design, is a symbol of purity, enlightenment and the Buddhist faith throughout Sri Lanka.
